How to Prepare Your Quilt Top
You have invested time and money already in your quilt top and you are ready to have it quilted. Here are some steps you can take to prepare to have your quilting completed on a long arm.
Backing & Batting - Size
Your backing and batting should be 4" longer on all sides. For example, if your quilt top measures 60" x 75" then your backing and batting should be at least 68" x 83".
Backing - Seams
If you have a seam in your backing, it should ideally run horizontally, not vertically.
Quilt Top - Threads
Trim all threads so that they do not show through your top.
Final Touches
Free of embellishment and buttons.
Batting - General Info
There are many batting options available. We offer 100% cotton and 80/20 (Cotton/Polyester) blend. The batting that we provide as part of the purchase of our services is a quality batting that is resistant to "bearding". Bearding is when the batting begins to come through the material. Quality batting is an important component to having a long-lasting finished product.
